The STIHL Group began to organize a network of international production facilities in the early 70’s. Developing a presence in China is the logical continuation of STIHL’s international manufacturing strategy.

In 2005, STIHL established ANDREAS STIHL POWER TOOLS (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. (STIHL Qingdao) as its first facility in China and set it's long term goal of developing STIHL Qingdao into a major production site within the group.

For providing both highly efficient worldwide logistical connections and excellent living conditions in a rising and modern city, Qingdao Export Processing Zone is second to none. The local large-scale master plan is highly conducive to the future growth of STIHL Group on the whole, and the modern architecture on-site combines with a functional building design to provide a pleasant and efficient working environment.

To fulfil customers’ needs, the factory concept is geared toward providing high quality products and the shortest possible lead time. State-of-the-art methods are applied to supply chain management as well as to all internal processes from receiving through production, assembly and shipping. As a leading member of manufacturing network in STIHL Group, we adhere to a strict standard of ‘best practices’

The production at STIHL Qingdao began in September 2006 with brush cutters, with Hedge trimmers and chain saws joining the product family afterwards. Products from STIHL Qingdao are backed by the same uncompromising quality guarantee which STIHL is famous for around the world, and every unit is manufactured for export to overseas markets including Europe and North America.

Till now Qingdao has employed around 280 highly-qualified and well-trained staff members. To support international cooperation, the experienced international management team is pursuing the highest possible level professional training and personnel development.
